I am reprinting all three of Patrick's zines that are listed here. They'll be available again in January 2025.
My friend Patrick Dean was one of the greatest people to ever live. He was also one of the funniest cartoonists in history. I am determined to keep as much of his work as I can in print. I can't figure out the password to his online store, so I'm selling the reprints of his work here.
It is important to me that you know that every dime of the money that comes to me for Patrick's books will go to his family. This will always be the case.
Here's what's available now:
A WEEKEND AT THE ATWOOD - This was originally published as the 12th issue of Big Deal Comics and Stories in April of 2013. This is a story about a bunch of ghosts (real ones) hanging out. There are no bears in it, but one of the characters mentions a bear once.
Patrick didn't write much about it on his website, but you can read the very little he did write about it here.
THE GRIZZLY - Originally published online, this was printed as the 13th issue of Big Deal Comics and Stories in April of 2013. Set in Patrick's imaginary city of Tragoston, The Grizzly is about bears, sleeping, talking on the phone, walking alone at night, and looking up at the stars. There's a ghost in it, but it's not a real one.
You can read everything Patrick ever wrote about it at Patrick's website.
BIG DEAL COMICS & STORIES PRESENTS THE 2013 HAINT BOOK (10th Anniversary Edition) - Published in, if you can believe it, 2013, this (technically the 14th issue of Big Deal Comics & Stories) is a Halloween-themed collection of comics, stories, recipes, pin-ups, helpful party tips, and even a mask you can cut out and wear. This anniversary reprint contains previously unpublished illustrations and fake ads that Patrick made up that were originally going to be published in Some Odd Stories, a "weird fiction" pulp-style 'zine that never made it to publication.
Some photos of the book and a process update for the cover image from the time of its original publication can be seen here.
